Pointing People to Places that are making a difference.
So often I have been asked by my white friends and counterparts what the can actually do to make a difference in racial reconciliation. This is not an easy question to answer, but my prayer is that this would be a start. Below I have highlighted 2 organizations doing great work in the black community and have created 2 GoFundMe accounts to support them. My goal is to raise $10,000 for each of these organizations in 24 hours.
Education - 85% of black college students graduate with debt. averaging $34,000. The Thurgood Marshall College Fund helps black students pay their way through college. You can learn more about them here
Incarceration - African-Americans constitute 47% of the exconerations occurring in the US today while we make up only 13% off the US population. The Equal Justice Initiative works to reform the criminal justice system buy fighting against the death penalty, chidden in adult prisons, wrongful incarcerations and more. Learn more here
